WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — Have you ever considered swapping your car for a bike as your main form of transportation? An upcoming free event in Washington, D.C. will introduce you to people who have done just that.
“One of the joys of biking in D.C. is you will typically get to where you are going faster than somebody in a car and when you get there, you don’t have to look for parking,” said Lelac Almagor.
Almagor said those are just some of the reasons ditching the car for a bike as a main mode of transportation is great.

“It’s basically a big party for everybody who bikes in D.C., everybody who bikes with kids in D.C. and also people who are bike curious,” said Almagor.
The annual event is happening on Sept. 8 at Alethia Tanner Park. Almagor said there will be a lot of bikes to try, a kids parade, bike tune-ups, food trucks and free snow cones for everyone.
“If you don’t have a bike yet, or you aren’t biking yet or you wondered what it would be like to roll right past the drop-off line at my kids school on a bike this is a great opportunity to just find out,” added Almagor.
