Dave ‘Hughesy’ Hughes revealed he would prefer a heckler over a talker as he addressed the moment he kicked three women out of his gig this past weekend.
On Monday, the comedian, 54, got candid about his recent stand-up show at Adelaide Fringe Festival while on The Project, revealing why he asked three women to leave the gig.
‘They wouldn’t shut up’, he told the hosts of the incident.
The TV personality gave the women, who were talking loudly in the second row, five warnings before he eventually had them escorted out by security.
‘I offered a refund,’ he added. ‘I said, “I will pay you to leave.”‘
When asked what the women were talking about, the comedian quipped: ‘Maybe how hot I am, I don’t know.’

Hughesy told The Project that there was one woman in particular who did not want to leave the event, however the penny eventually dropped for the attendee who left to the sound of chanting.
‘The crowd cheered and when everyone started cheering and chanting, “get out, get out,” her brain worked out that maybe she was being annoying,’ he said.
Eventually, Dave was asked what he thought was worse as a performer: a heckler or a talker.
‘I would say talker,’ he confessed. ‘If a heckler says, “you’re not funny,” and everyone agrees with them, that’s bad. But someone who is talking…’ the star trailed off.
‘A heckler, you hope they are engaged with the show,’ he shared.
‘Someone who is talking often is not engaged.’
The comedian reiterated: ‘Talking is worse.’
Dave unleashed on a group of women over the weekend for interrupting his show at Adelaide Fringe Festival.

The crowd chanted ‘out’ as Hughes told the group: ‘I’m sorry, it’s my f**king show, you have to shut up.
‘If you talk one more time, you’re out. Alright, that’s it. This is f**king ridiculous.
‘This is a lesson for anyone.’
He labelled the women’s behaviour ‘distracting’ and the ‘height of rudeness’.
The trio were escorted out after being called out, with one kissing Hughes on the cheek and shaking his hand.
The comedian later told Seven News the interruption was ‘frustrating’ and ‘terribly selfish’ before offering etiquette tips to anyone wishing to attend his shows.
‘Look if you’ve paid money to go to a show – you’ve got to shut up,’ Hughes said.

‘Don’t have your own conversations loudly. Especially if you’re in the second row because it’s not TV. The performers can hear you.
‘Maybe I’m not entertaining enough.’
Hughes told the Adelaide Advertiser: ‘I’ve no idea how anyone could think it’s OK to behave like that when everyone has paid good money to see a show.
‘The crowd reaction told me I made the right call. The show soared once they left.
‘Hopefully people read this and realise it’s terribly selfish to behave that way during a live show.”
