A crash at a gas station in Los Angeles resulted in the deaths of two people overnight, authorities say.
Preliminary information from a CHP spokesperson indicates that officers were dispatched to the intersection of Normandie Avenue and Century Boulevard in the Westmont neighborhood at 12:05 a.m. Wednesday on reports of a two-vehicle collision.
Upon arriving, the officers found two people deceased at the scene. The spokesperson was unable to confirm if they were traveling in the same vehicle.
Neither victim was immediately identified.
Video from the scene obtained by KTLA shows one of the two vehicles involved in the wreck, a gray Honda SUV, came to rest next to a gas pump after taking out a traffic light. The other vehicle involved, a silver Buick SUV, was seen in the middle of the roadway.
Both cars had sustained serious damage, the footage showed.
While it is unknown what caused the crash, the CHP spokesperson confirmed that it was not a hit-and-run.
The intersection of Normandie and Century was closed until 5:45 a.m., according to the CHP traffic incident log.
