The NYPD is asking for the public’s help in tracking down a creep who groped a woman after pulling her pants down on a Chelsea street.
The 28-year-old victim was walking near W. 26 St. and 11th Ave. at about 3:45 a.m. on Tuesday when the man approached her, pulled her pants down and fondled her butt, police said.
He then ran off heading east on W. 26 St. and remains on the lam, cops said.
Police on Saturday released surveillance photos of the suspect wearing a red and blue shirt with “14” printed on the front and back, black shorts, and white sneakers.
The Tuesday assault came amid a rash of similar incidents in the Bronx and Brooklyn.
A 22-year-old woman was raped in a broad daylight attack in Brooklyn on Aug. 30, and her attacker remains at large.
The woman was speaking to the man on Junius St. near Blake Ave. in Brownsville when he shoved her to the ground and molested her, cops said.
On Monday a 78-year-old woman was sexually assaulted by a burglar inside her Bronx home.
The thief managed to enter the woman’s front door on Buttrick Ave. near Schurz Ave. in Throgs Neck just before 1 a.m., cops said. The man exposed himself to the victim before running his hands up and down her body.
The suspect ran off after snatching her two landline phones to stop her from calling for help, and her purse containing credit cards and jewelry. There have been no arrests.
On Thursday a 75-year-old woman was tackled to the ground and nearly raped in an early-morning attack outside a Brooklyn cemetery, cops said.
The woman was outside Holy Cross Cemetery near Tilden and Brooklyn Aves. in East Flatbush at 6:30 a.m. when the suspect jumped on her back and whispered, “I will rape you!” before placing her in a headlock, forcing her on her stomach and pulling her pants down. Spooked by the woman’s screams for help, the man ran off and remains on the loose.
Also on Thursday, cops nabbed a serial groper wanted for assaulting four women in Brooklyn in June and August.
William Nuesi, 23, was charged with forcible touching and harassment for the Park Slope sex assault spree, cops said.
By the end of August, rapes in the city had jumped by 11%, from 978 last year to 1,087 so far this year, cops said.
