Cops have arrested and charged a second man with 2nd degree murder in a Bronx shooting that killed a beloved 29-year-old father in April, police said Saturday.

Robert Valdez-Pena, 27, was also hit with criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment charges for his role in the spray of bullets that killed Miguel Doleo and wounded three other men on a Bronx street corner.

Valdez-Pena has several priors, all within the last year, according to police sources. He was most recently charged with reckless endangerment in June, and his rap sheet also carries grand larceny charges.

In June, police nabbed a 21-year-old Bronx resident who they identified as riding one of the two mopeds that zipped by Doleo the evening of April 16. The back passengers of both mopeds opened fire near Townsend Ave. in Mount Eden around 6:15 p.m., cops said.

About ten shots were fired off, fatally striking Doleo in the chest and leg, and wounding three other victims who were expected to survive, according to police.

Cops Saturday night did not confirm whether Valdez-Pena was one of the gunmen.

Police investigate after four people were shot on East Mount Eden Avenue and Townsend Avenue in the Bronx, New York City on Tuesday, April 16 2024.

Doleo’s family described him as a loving father of six children who would be sorely missed.

“He was a great man,” the victim’s sister, Lauren Delgado, told the Daily News at the time. “He was like no other. He was loved by everyone.”

In the aftermath of the murder, NYPD Deputy Commissioner of Operations Kaz Daughtry told reporters that the department’s community response team had been “going aggressively after people on scooters,” in the weeks before the shooting. The deadly incident spurred them to hone in on “individuals riding around on illegal scooters, dirt bikes and ATVs,” he said.
