San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department deputies arrested a convicted felon after he was identified as the suspect in a liquor store robbery.
According to an SBSD release, the robbery was reported at Royal Liquor, located at 15689 Bear Valley Road in Hesperia, around 8 a.m. on Sunday.
Arriving deputies learned from the store clerk that the suspect, later identified as Davon Burson, pointed a gun at them, demanded money and threatened to harm them if they did not comply.
After making the threats, Burson stole $100 and fled the scene.
Deputies quickly launched their investigation and identified Burson, 21, as the suspect, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
A vehicle being driven by Burson was located just after midnight Monday in an undisclosed location, and upon conducting a traffic stop and positively identifying Burson, deputies took him into custody.
A search warrant was conducted on Burson’s Victorville home that turned up several firearms, including a short barrel rifle, a submachine gun, a 9 mm magazine and various ammunition.
“Burson is a felon and is prohibited from being in possession of firearms and ammunition,” SBSD said.
The 21-year-old was arrested and booked into the High Desert Detention Center for robbery, being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a short barrel rifle, possession of a large capacity magazine, being a felon in possession of ammunition and possession of a machine gun.
Inmate search records indicate Burson is being held on $1.1 million bail.
His first court date is scheduled for Wednesday morning at the Victorville Superior Court.
