WASHINGTON (DC News Now) – The Washington Commanders are re-signing tight end John Bates to a three-year deal, according to NFL Network insider Mike Garafolo.
The team locks in the 27-year-old through the 2028-29 season, one day after they re-sign veteran tight end Zach Ertz to a one-year deal.
Bates was drafted by Washington in 2021, and now becomes one of the few Ron Rivera draftees who has stayed on head coach Dan Quinn’s roster.
In four seasons with the Commanders, Bates has 61 catches for 592 yards and stood out as a great blocker last season.
