Two Colton High School students were arrested this month, one of them with a handgun, police said.
School officials were first alerted that a student was concealing a handgun just before 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 15, the Colton Police Department said in a news release.
After a search of campus did not reveal the student, authorities began searching off campus, locating two teens at a local business across the street from campus.
A gun was discovered, and two boys aged 16 and 17 were arrested, police said. The 16-year-old was booked into juvenile hall, while the 17-year-old was released to his parents.
Due to their ages, the boys’ identities have not been released.
