A Ventura man was arrested on a felony charge of burglary after he was detained by a “diligent member of the community” Thursday morning, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
Robert Gibson, 67, was identified as the burglar captured after the 7:30 a.m. break-in in the 400 block of Willard Road in unincorporated Santa Paula, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Gibson, who had been “detained by a diligent member of the community,” was tied to the burglary by the reporting party and through “additional evidence” found on scene by deputies, officials said.
“As a result of the investigation, stolen property was recovered and given back to the victim,” the release added.
Gibson is being held at the Ventura County Main Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
He’s due to appear in Ventura County Superior Court on Monday.
