EXCLUSIVE: Two-time Olympic gold medal-winning snowboarder Chloe Kim is the subject of a new documentary whose partners include Ken Kao (The Favourite), Nic Gonda (Hamnet), Peter Berg (Friday Night Lights) and director Sue Kim (The Last Of The Sea Women).

Currently in production, the documentary will offer “an intimate, behind-the-scenes look at the physical, emotional, and psychological realities of competing at the highest level of sport.” While filming, U.S. athlete Kim sustained a torn labrum during a practice run but still plans to compete “in what will likely be her final Olympics run” at the upcoming 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy, which will feature in the film.

Kim herself is an executive-producer on the film, which is being directed by Sue Kim (no relation), who is in post-production on Sony doc Lisa, about Blackpink singer Lalisa Manobal.

Parallel, the investment office and wellness media company co-founded by producer-financiers Ken Kao and Nic Gonda has joined the untitled documentary as financier and executive producer. Peter Berg’s Brighton Maintenance is also an exec producer.

Parallel will also collaborate with the subject on “select editorial and digital projects that expand the film’s narrative beyond the screen”.

At the 2018 Winter Olympics, Kim became the youngest woman to win an Olympic snowboarding gold medal when she won gold in the women’s snowboard halfpipe at 17 years-old. The five-time ESPY winner became the first woman to win two gold medals in halfpipe when she scored gold at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. She co-founded company Togethxr with fellow sporting luminaries Alex Morgan, Sue Bird, and Simone Manuel.

“This film is a culmination of my career as a professional athlete, but it’s also about everything that exists beyond the competition,” said Chloe Kim. “I’m excited to open up my world and let fans see my story unfold, and to partner with Parallel to share it in a way that feels honest and deeply personal.”

“What drew us to Chloe and this opportunity is her willingness to tell the full story of what excellence actually requires — the sacrifices, doubt, and resilience behind elite performance,” said Parallel partners Ken Kao, Nic Gonda, and Jocelyn Florence. “We’re honored to support Chloe as she returns to the Olympic stage and shares these high stakes experiences on her own terms.”

The deal was negotiated by UTA’s David Park, Parallel’s Katherine Skylar, Brighton Maintenance’s Matthew Goldberg, Alan Sacks of Frankfurt Kurnit Klein & Selz, Brandon Cherry of Loeb & Loeb, and Matt Wallerstein of Hirsch Wallerstein.
