(NEXSTAR) – Thousands of products are being recalled by Gold Star Distribution after it was discovered that one the distributor’s facilities had rodent and bird droppings in areas where products were being held, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
“These conditions create a significant risk that products held at the facility may have been contaminated with filth and harmful microorganisms,” reads a recall notice issued by the company.
Anyone exposed to contaminated products could potentially contract an illness such as Salmonella or even Leptospirosis, a bacterial disease from exposure to animal urine.
Products that may have been affected include foods such as Pringles, Cheerios and instant ramen; drinks like Gatorade and Arizona Iced Tea; and even drugs such as Advil, Tylenol, and Nyquil.
A full list of thousands of potentially contaminated products can be found on the FDA’s website.
The facility distributed products to three states: Indiana, North Dakota and Minnesota. Gold Star Distribution is asking anyone in those states who has purchased any of these products to destroy them immediately and to send proof of destruction to Gold Star’s Minnesota address.
Refunds will be provided upon request. No illnesses have been reported so far.
