A LOUISIANA mother who had sex with her daughter’s 14-year old classmate has been sentenced to 26 years behind bars.
Leann Yammarino pleaded guilty to having sex with an underage boy while also sexting at least five other teenagers.
Her daughter addressed the court of Tuesday, begging for her disgraced mom to receive the maximum penalty after she ruined her family’s life.
Visibly upset by proceedings, Yammarino bowed her head throughout the sentencing hearing.
The Judge, Keyojuan Gant-Turner, settled upon the maximum sentence of ten year sentence for both counts.
This will be in addition to three years for each count of indecent behaviour.
Totalling 26 years, the sentences will run consecutively.
This means that the 45-year-old could be well over 70 by the time she is free.
Once released, she will remain on the Sex Offender Registry for the rest of her life.
Yammarino has been behind bars since her arrest in July last year.
She had been heavily involved in Dutchtown High School’s cheerleading squad.
Ascension District Attorney Ricky Babin described her as a threat, noting that”her victims are minors.”
He added: “It wasn’t an isolated incident, so yes, in my opinion she is.”
Police were first made aware when a 14-year-old student came forward in July 2024.
He alleged that Yammarino had sex twice with him since January.
Five other students, aged between 14 and 16, then accused her of sending in appropriate messages, including videos of herself.
This comes after a special needs teacher was sentenced to 25 years in prison after she persuaded a vulnerable child to have a sexual relationship with her.
Sandy Carazas-Pines, 36, led her 16-year-old student to believe they were in a romantic relationship over the period November 2022 to February 2023.
The married mother-of-three called, texted and video-chatted with the boy to arrange sexual encounters with him.
She even forced him to live-stream “sexually explicit content” while on video calls with her.
Then, back in June, a teacher who allegedly had sex with her 15-year-old pupil was indicted on dozens more charges of assault and abuse against the same boy.
Christina Formella was originally charged with two counts of sexual abuse and one count of sexual assault.
However, she was later hit with a further 52 counts of alleged abuse of the same student.
