It will be an American Idol reunion as Carrie Underwood returns to perform at the 54th edition of ABC‘s holiday staple Dick Clark’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest. This marks the country superstar’s third time as a performer at the annual celebration. She’ll take the stage shortly before the ball-drop at midnight in New York’s Times Square.
Joining Underwood on the lineup are CMA New Artist of the Year Megan Moroney, and British singer-songwriter Sophie Ellis-Bextor, and previously announced rocker Lenny Kravitz, singer-songwriter Teddy Swims, multi-platinum singer, songwriter and dancer Tinashe, country star Cody Johnson and five-time Grammy nominee Thomas Rhett.
Rita Ora returns as co-host with Seacrest, who is marking his 20th year as host. Dayanara Torres will return as co-host in Puerto Rico for the holiday special, which airs live Tuesday, December 31 on ABC, beginning at 8 p.m. ET and streaming next day on Hulu.
“I have such fun memories of performing on New Year’s Rockin’ Eve in Times Square in both 2007 and 2015, and I’m so excited to perform just before the ball drops again this year,” said Underwood. “I’m thrilled to celebrate 20 years since winning ‘American Idol’ by joining Ryan as he hosts his 20th New Year’s Eve in Times Square.”
Underwood, who won American Idol in Season 4, returns as judge for the upcoming Season 25.
