A group of masked burglars broke into a shop in Pasadena and took off with multiple high-end bicycles worth tens of thousands of dollars Tuesday morning, the store’s manager said.
Surveillance video recorded at Velo Pasadena and shared with KTLA showed as many as six burglars inside the shop after they broke through a backdoor shortly after 3:30 a.m.
Matthew, the shop’s manager, said the thieves walked out with eight bicycles worth an estimated $80,000, and it wasn’t the first time that the shop on the 2500 block of East Colorado Boulevard had been targeted.
They have had a total of eight to 10 break-ins since the COVID pandemic and a couple of years ago a group of three burglars broke in twice in one week, Matthew said.
Police did arrest one suspect believed to be involved in a past burglary but the shop owners are concerned about another break-in.
It was unclear how long the owners could absorb the financial hits from repeated burglaries, Matthew said.
