DAYTON, Texas — A brush fire burned several hundred acres in the Dayton area, with crews working on hot spots, according to the Dayton Volunteer Fire Department. The fire was later contained.
The fire was located in the area of CR 677, west of CR 321. That’s north of Dayton.
Officials said 700 acres burned.
The fire department reported at 4:01 p.m. that crews are on scene in the area of County Road 677 for the uncontrolled burn. Mutual aid was requested to help with containment efforts.
Authorities urged residents to use caution in the area and watch for emergency crews that responded to the scene.
