(NewsNation) — The country music duo Brothers Osborne is expected to perform in North Carolina during Vice President Kamala Harris’ rally, Rolling Stone reported.
“We’ve been hearing ‘shut up and sing’ for years, so we’re taking that great sage advice and are lending our singing voices in support of Kamala Harris this Thursday in Greensboro, North Carolina,” TJ Osborne told the outlet.
The duo including TJ and John Osborne, have previously voiced their support for causes like gun safety and LGBTQ issues.
Harris who is running as the democratic candidate for president is on a campaign tour in multiple swing states ahead of election day on Nov. 5.
The brothers from Deale, Maryland, opened up in 2021 about their private lives and personal struggles, with lead singer TJ Osborne coming out publicly as gay and guitarist John talking about his anxiety.
TJ Osborne’s decision to come out publicly also led them to address the divisive political conversations about LGBTQ issues, especially in Tennessee. Tennessee leads the country in enacting new laws that target transgender people, including banning transgender athletes from playing girls’ public school sports.
When a state lawmaker blocked a proposed state resolution to honor TJ Osborne earlier this year, they met with Republican state Rep. Jeremy Faison over lunch to talk.
After the resolution was blocked, Brothers Osborne released their music video for “Younger Me” using the steps of the state capitol building as the backdrop.
The black-and-white video, which was nominated for music video of the year at the CMAs, features the band and several young people singing along to the lyrics.
Last year, the brother performed at the White House’s Fourth of July concert for President Joe Biden.
