Two brothers were arrested for allegedly operating a delivery service that distributed drugs to juveniles throughout Ventura County.
The suspects were identified as Enrique Benitez, 18, and Erick Benitez, 26, both Oxnard residents, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.
Detectives began investigating reports of the delivery service in February 2025. The brothers sold psilocybin mushrooms, marijuana, vapes and nicotine and primarily targeted juveniles at Ventura County schools.
They allegedly sold the drugs through social media and online messaging platforms.
One of the juveniles who purchased psilocybin mushrooms from the service was hospitalized after ingesting the drugs, authorities said.
On March 25, deputies served a search warrant at a residence on the 4800 block of South Rose Avenue.
Deputies discovered 88 marijuana vape devices, around 20 grams of psilocybin, 10 nicotine vape devices and a large volume of loose marijuana.
They also found over $2,000 worth of U.S. currency and a loaded P-80 non-serialized handgun, also known as a “ghost gun.”
The brothers were arrested on multiple charges including the sale of a controlled substance to a minor, the possession of a controlled substance for sale, child endangerment and more.
They are being held on $250,000 bail each. No further details were released as the case remains under investigation.
