She was travelling in the van with her family when the tragic accident occurred.

Her three family members in the van were also injured in the collision, including a seven-year-old girl.

An 18-year-old man was rushed to the nearby Virgen de la Arrixaca hospital by ambulance after sustaining serious injuries in the crash.

A seven-year-old girl and 40-year-old man suffered less serious injuries.

The two lorry drivers were also treated for minor injuries.

The scene was described as “extremely serious” by Spain’s 112 emergency service.

Images from the site of the fatal collision seem to show huge parts of mangled metal from the van on the road.

Emergency services attended the accident, including fire crews who were on standby in case they needed to pull called in case they needed to pull people from the wrecks.

A full investigation is underway, but early evidence suggests distraction may have been a factor in the deadly smash, according to The Spanish Eye.

A traffic jam formed of nearly a mile after the crash.

The right-hand lane of the motorway was closed altogether.

It comes after a tourist cyclist was killed in another Brit holiday hotspot.

The cyclist in his 40s died after being hit by two motors in Mallorca.

Police said a Volkswagen Transporter van smashed into the man first, throwing him into the air and dragging him several metres.

A Peugeot Rifter hit the holidaymaker shortly afterwards.

The cyclist rode through a stop sign at a junction, when he was struck by two vehicles driving in opposite directions, initial police investigations suggest.

Paramedics rushed to help, but were unable to save the man, who was declared dead at the scene.

The Sun contacted the British Foreign Office for comment.
