A 15-YEAR-OLD boy has been stabbed in a park in a horror late-night attack with cops launching an urgent manhunt for a knifeman.
Police raced to Ridgewood Park in Merseyside, earlier this evening after receiving reports of the horrific stabbing.
The youngster was rushed to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital for treatment after cops found him with a puncture wound in his back.
The teen’s condition is described as serious but stable, he remains in hospital.
Cops described the suspect as a white teenage male with long hair and wearing a white and blue jacket.
He fled the scene when cops arrived – extensive inquires are ongoing to find him.
A 13-year-old girl has been arrested on suspicion of wounding and assisting an offender.
She was taken into custody and is currently being questioned by Merseyside Police.
The force said it is conducting a forensic examination of the scene while trying to track down witnesses and CCTV.
Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to contact the police immediately.
Officers said their investigation into the violent attack is “progressing well.”
Detective Inspector Gavin Mulcahy said: “The community of Pensby will understandably be shocked and saddened to hear a young male has come to harm in this way in a park well used by local residents of all ages.
“Our investigation is progressing well, with a number of positive lines of enquiry being pursued.
“We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have been in the park around the time of the incident who have not yet spoken to police.”
