LOS ANGELES (KTLA) – A 14-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with a stabbing at an immigrants’ right demonstration in downtown Los Angeles that left another teen with serious injuries, authorities announced Wednesday.
The Feb. 7 violence broke out just after 1:30 p.m. at Grand Park, located at 200 North Spring Street, the Los Angeles Police Department said.
Responding officers located the 17-year-old male victim suffering from a stab wound. Paramedics with the L.A. Fire Department rushed the teen to the hospital where he was listed in critical condition.
Details surrounding the stabbing are limited and it’s unclear exactly what happened, though when Sky5 flew over the scene, its cameras captured at least one brawl that broke out in the aftermath of the stabbing.

A witness, identified only as Will, told KTLA that he didn’t believe the stabbing suspect was a part of the peaceful demonstration, which had drawn several hundred people, including many students who walked out of different schools across the city, protesting the Trump administration’s calls for mass deportations.
“I came to the protest and there was a guy that came up who wasn’t even a part of the protest,” he said. “I got it all on my camera.”
After the chaos caused by the stabbing, organizers at the demonstration reportedly encouraged protesters to leave the park.
Well into that evening, LAPD told people to avoid the area, saying, “Spring Street will be closed from Temple Street to 1st Street while investigators gather evidence and locate witnesses.”
The teen stabbing suspect, according to police, was arrested just before 5 p.m. on Feb. 11 by officers with LAPD’s Rampart Division and booked for attempted murder.
No update was provided on the condition of the 17-year-old victim.
