A 13-year-old boy was fatally shot Monday evening inside an Englewood home, according to Chicago police.
Tawon Tribble Sr. identified the boy as his son, Tawon Tribble Jr.
Police did not immediately explain the circumstances surrounding how the boy was shot in the chest, only saying that the gun went off inside a home in the 500 block of West 65th Place just before 7 p.m.
Family members said the shooting did not occur at the boy’s home.
Tribble said his son loved Chicago sports teams.
The boy was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said. Officers were questioning a person of interest about the shooting, and Wentworth area detectives were investigating.
