Authorities are searching for answers after a body washed ashore near Belmont Veterans Memorial Pier in Long Beach on Sunday.
According to the Long Beach Fire Department, the body was discovered to be washed up on the beach at about 11:30 a.m. in the area of Ocean and 36th Street.
The descendent was determined to be a man in his 50s. His identity was not immediately revealed.
LBFD said the death does not appear to be by suicide. Cause of death is under investigation.
The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office took custody of the body, and the Long Beach Police Department has assumed the investigation.
No additional details were immediately made available.
