A YOUNG beauty queen was killed in a tragic car crash alongside her boyfriend just one week after being crowned.
Alison Montaño Guerrero, 21, and Jesús Eduardo Severiano García were trapped inside their vehicle following a head-on collision with a lorry last Friday on Mexico’s Jalostotitlán-Teocaltiche Highway.
Emergency responders confirmed the couple’s deaths at the scene.
Guerrero had been crowned Miss Teocaltiche 2025 only eight days earlier, on October 30.
At the pageant, she spoke of her love for her hometown, saying: “True beauty isn’t measured by crowns or dresses, but by the ability to look at others with respect and love.”
The young beauty queen had been studying Psychology and Education at the University of Guadalajara.
She has been described as a dedicated student by local media.
Teocaltiche authorities paid tribute to a “true source of pride“, saying: “She didn’t just captivate with her beauty – she also proved to be an outstanding young woman with strong values.
“Her legacy leaves an enduring mark of joy, kindness and dedication.”
Although Alison kept a low profile online, she had more than 5,000 Instagram followers.
Her final post, shared the day before the crash, showed her donning a stylish black hat and brown top.
The Jalisco State Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation to establish the exact cause of the accident.
The tragic accident has come after 23 people, including children, were killed in an explosion and fire that tore through a supermarket in Mexico.
The blaze hit a Waldo’s discount store in the northwestern town of Hermosillo as the country marked the Day of the Dead.
The inferno ripped through the downtown store, sending thick black smoke billowing over the city as terrified shoppers fled.
Footage posted online showed flames engulfing the building, frantic evacuations, and firefighters battling the blaze amid charred cars and a soot-covered façade.
Authorities said the fire destroyed the store and damaged nearby buildings.
At least 12 people were injured, many in serious condition.
Sonora’s governor, Alfonso Durazo, confirmed that children and two pregnant women were among the victims.
Durazo said in a statement: “I have ordered a thorough and transparent investigation to clarify the causes of the accident.”
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum also expressed condolences on social media, writing: “My heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives.”
