It’s that time of the year when former President Barack Obama reveals his list of favorite books, movies and music.
On Friday he started with his top 10 books of 2024. The titles are:
- “The Anxious Generation” by Jonathan Haidt
- “Intermezzo” by Sally Rooney
- “Patriot” by Alexei Navalny
- “Orbital” by Samantha Harvey
- “The Anthropologists” by Ayşegül Savaş
- “Stolen Pride” by Arlie Russell Hochschild
- “In Ascension” by Martin MacInnes
- “Growth” by Daniel Susskind
- “Someone Like Us” by Dinaw Mengestu
- “The Work of Art” by Adam Moss
“I always look forward to sharing my annual list of favorite books, movies, and music,” he wrote on Instagram. “Today I’ll start by sharing some of the books that have stuck with me long after I finished reading them.”
He then urged his over 36 million followers to “check them out this holiday season, preferably at an independent bookstore or library!”
Author Jonathan Haidt commented on the post saying “Thank you, Mr President, honored to be on your list among so many great authors.”
The Instagram account for the Merriam-Webster dictionary made a cheeky comment that read: “Hopefully next year” with multiple prayer hands emojis.
