A man was violently assaulted when he walked in on three burglars ransacking his bakery in Studio City.
Surveillance video captured the moment the hooded thieves broke into Sweet Lily Bakery on Cahuenga Boulevard early Wednesday at around 4:17 a.m.
The bakery owner, Thibaut Leymarie, was inside the shop alone when the suspects, dressed in all-black, entered the business. One of the suspects was holding a metal pole.
When Leymaire suddenly spotted them in the kitchen, he began screaming, “Get out of here!”
The three men tackled Leymarie and chased him through the store before violently pushing him out the front door. One of the burglars began beating him with the metal pole.
The suspects, who escaped with a stolen computer, fled the scene in a getaway car — a dark-colored Mercedes-Benz sedan.
Leymarie suffered minor injuries to his eye, arm and back area. He immediately called the police but the suspects were gone by the time they arrived.
“I don’t know why [they came here] because there is nothing to steal,” he said.
Leymarie said he was glad no one else was hurt during the ordeal.
However, he is now left with a damaged front door that will be expensive to fix. Some of his employees are also worried the burglars could return.
No suspect description was provided yet as the assault remains under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department.
