Another brutal Stormfront is imminent as Aya Cash braces fans for Vought Rising.
Although the actress admitted they “don’t actually know yet” when The Boys spin-off will begin filming, she teased an exciting prequel to the comic book adaptation after reading the first two episodes.
“I’ve read two scripts and they’re absolutely insanely good. But that’s about all I can tell you,” Cash told ComicBook while discussing her new superhero genre satire series The Franchise, premiering Sunday on Max.
Deadline reported in July that Prime Video had ordered the spin-off of The Boys, shortly before Cash and co-star Jensen Ackles shared the news at Comic-Con.
Showrunner Paul Grellong and executive producer Eric Kripke described the prequel as “a twisted murder mystery about the origins of Vought in the 1950s, the early exploits of Soldier Boy (Ackles), and the diabolical maneuvers of a Supe known to fans as Stormfront (Cash), who was then going by the name Clara Vought.”
“We cannot wait to blow your minds and trouble your souls with this salacious, grisly saga drenched in blood and Compound V,” they added.
Stormfront previously had an arc on Season 2 of The Boys, with Soldier Boy introduced in Season 3. Soldier Boy is the first American non-aging Supe, created by Frederick Vought during World War II. Stormfront was Frederick Vought’s first successful test subject for Compound V and she married him before they moved to the US.
As the mother series prepares to enter its fifth and final season, Prime also has the animated spin-off The Boys Presents: Diabolical and the college-based Gen V. Meanwhile, Diego Luna and Gael García Bernal are executive producing The Boys: Mexico, from Blue Beetle writer Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer.
