Authorities have identified a person of interest in the case of a fatal stabbing in Lancaster on Friday afternoon.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, deputies received reports of a person down at the 1700 block of E Avenue J in Lancaster at about 4:16 p.m.
Upon arrival, they found a man suffering from stab wounds. He was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
He is yet to be identified publicly, pending notification of next of kin.
Shortly after the original report, deputies found a person of interest in connection with the stabbing. That person was detained.
They were not immediately identified, and as of Saturday morning, it’s not clear if they were arrested.
An “edged weapon” was recovered at the scene, the LASD said. There are no outstanding suspects.
