Jeffrey Mei, a longtime cuisinier who has managed kitchens from New York to Texas, has been named executive chef at the Nine Tailed Fox, the Chinese restaurant due to open in The Village of Cross Keys in the spring of 2025. The venue is owned by the Baltimore-based Atlas Restaurant Group.
Mei, a native of China, has 29 years of experience as a chef at such restaurants as ONE Dim Sum, in Houston, and The Sheraton Hotel, in Flushing, New York. He will oversee the kitchen at the Nine Tailed Fox, currently under construction.
The Nine Tailed Fox will join dining options including Easy Like Sunday and Cece’s Roland Park, a Mediterranean restaurant from the Cordish Cos. The Village of Cross Keys was also recently approved for a marketplace liquor license that will allow shoppers to sip cocktails while strolling the retail center’s courtyard.
Atlas’ nearly two dozen bars and restaurants in the Baltimore region include Italian spots like Tagliata and Italian Disco, Mediterranean fare at Ouzo Bay, seafood at Watershed and The Choptank, Latin cuisine at Maximón and Japanese dishes at Azumi. The rapidly expanding restaurant group, founded by brothers Alex and Eric Smith, has also purchased local landmarks including The Admirals Cup, James Joyce Irish Pub and Restaurant, The Valley Inn and The Oregon Grille.
The Roland Park eatery will serve a “moderately priced menu perfect for everyday dining,” its owners said. The Nine Tailed Fox will be open for lunch and dinner and will feature rooftop terrace dining, a bar and seating for 200 patrons.
