MONTGOMERY COUNT, Md. (DC News Now) — At least one family was left without a home on Christmas Eve after a fire broke out at the Nob Hill Apartment Homes in Silver Spring.
In a post on X, Pete Piringer, with the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS), said that around 6:45 p.m., crews were called to the apartment complex in the 9200 block of Piney Branch Road, near New Hampshire Avenue for a fire.
Piringer said when first responders arrived, they found a fire inside a three-story apartment building.
As crews continued searching the building, firefighters located the fire in an apartment on the second floor.
The blaze was confined to the kitchen.
However, the first floor of the apartment building was damaged by water as crews worked to put out the fire, according to MCFRS.
Piringer said the Red Cross is assisting at least one family.
