PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — Firefighting equipment from the Prince George’s County Fire and EMS Department was donated to the Republic of Liberia.
On Monday, firefighting equipment valued at around $150,000 was donated to representatives visiting from the Republic of Liberia.
The PPE included helmets, coats, gloves and boots.
Councilmember Wala Belgay, whose father is from Liberia, helped facilitate the donations and met with the Liberian Vice President last week.
“There are issues with access to gear. You’re talking about a country that has been for years, coming from a 14-year civil war, and it’s trying to get back on its feet,” she said. “Any help that it can get will save lives.”
