WEST VIRGINIA (DC News Now) — A man from Arlington was sentenced to over nine years in prison for a firearms charge in West Virginia, officials announced Tuesday.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office (USAO) for the Northern District of West Virginia said in a news release that 33-year-old Michael Jamar Handon was sentenced to 114 months in prison.
Court documents said that Handon worked with others to purchase guns in Berkeley, Jefferson and Morgan counties.
Handon had previous convictions of violent felon in possession/transport of a weapon and possession of ammunition and is prohibited from having firearms.
The USAO said that Handon will have three years of supervised release after his sentence.
