MILLIONS of Brits are currently on benefits with no requirement to work, sparking claims of a “welfare crisis”.

Chancellor Rachel Reeves is getting ready to hike taxes to pay for even more welfare spending in tomorrow’s Budget.

The rise in welfare spending comes after Labour originally promised to get a grip on the benefits bill, only to back down in the face of a backbench rebellion.

The Treasury is now accused of making workers pay for £15billion in extra benefits at the Budget.

Analysis by the Centre for Social Justice think-tank has revealed five million people are on benefits without needing to get a job.

Sir Iain Duncan Smith, who was Tory Welfare Secretary for six years until 2016, said last night: “It has become quite clear that welfare is now in crisis.“
