We have confirmed that Gerry Rich, who steered the Bond films going back to Goldeneye, is leaving Amazon MGM Studios. This was an amicable departure, and we understand it was a hard decision for Rich to make. While there’s the coincidence that his exit follows Amazon MGM Studios’ full creative control of Bond from Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson, the two instances are not connected.
It was Rich who spearheaded and ran the football on all theatrical motion picture campaigns for MGM releases.
Rich is exploring other opportunities. This puts two mega big feature marketing czars on the market: Rich and former Warner Bros global marketing boss Josh Goldstine.
This leaves Sue Kroll in charge of overall Amazon and MGM Studios marketing across all series and theatrical. Stephen Bruno, who came over from MGM Corporate, is also left at the streamer.
Rich came to Amazon via MGM/United Artists Releasing. He built up United Artists Releasing with late distribution guru Erik Lomis which was a co-partnership with Megan Ellison.
Rich previously held top marketing posts at Paramount and The Weinstein Company.
