After Manchester synagogue attack an angry country is crying out for strong leadership. Where is it?

Indulging hate

WHAT the hell were a hard-Left rabble doing gathering to spread their hate across the country just hours after the terrorist murder of innocent Jews?

This was no peaceful protest. It looked more like a sick celebration.

Could they not have shown just a sliver of decency and humanity by keeping their mouths shut for a day?

During one “demonstration”, a lone man shouted for Hamas to free Israeli hostages in Gaza — only to be jeered by the mob, which was screaming the racist chant “From the River to the Sea”.

The Home Secretary condemns these actions as “un-British”.

It’s far worse than that.

The activists who have taken control not only wave a foreign flag, they actively despise British values.

Yet this is all entirely predictable.

Over the past two years, police and politicians have let a bile-filled mob do whatever they want — terrorising Jews and revelling in antisemitic chants and slogans.

Calling for the destruction of the state of Israel, and urging a global intifada, has become commonplace.

What is truly shocking is that a further protest in support of Palestine Action will be allowed to take place today.

This is a protest on behalf of a banned TERRORIST organisation happening within 48 hours of an actual terrorist attack.

With pathetic politeness, police and the Government yesterday asked the hate-filled extremists not to go ahead.

Unsurprisingly, the fanatics said no. The Government shrugged.

Even after all that happened on Yom Kippur this week, the level of distress felt by British Jews at the hatred regularly directed at them publicly is still not being properly understood.

If it was, our authorities would find a way to drag the racist mobs glorying in the deaths of Jewish innocents off our streets.

Yesterday Deputy PM David Lammy was greeted with cries of “Shame on you” and “Every Saturday!” from furious Jewish families.

An angry country is crying out for strong leadership.

Where is it?

Keir court out

HAVING taken her time to weigh up the pros and cons, Tory leader Kemi Badenoch now agrees that Britain can stop the boats only by quitting the European Court of Human Rights.

Her decision to follow Nigel Farage’s Reform down the road of withdrawal leaves Keir Starmer isolated in his so-far staunch defence of continued membership.

As long as Britain remains a member of the ECHR, we will struggle to control our borders.

If the PM continues to ignore that, it will look increasingly like wilful fantasy.
