ALEXANDRIA, Va. (DC News Now) — An abandoned dog that was found tied to a tree in Alexandria is now looking for a home.

The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria (AWLA) said “some kind people” found Khloe tied to a tree in the neighborhood. They waited in hopes that her owner would come back for her, but when no one came, they called for help.
AWLA said its Animal Services team came to rescue Khloe. “They made sure she was fed, comfortable, and safe.”
Now, Khloe is looking for a new home.
AWLA said she has been “understandably” reserved and scared since coming to its facility but has started to open up with the help of behavior and animal care teams.

“She’s grown more confident, coming up to the kennel door to greet us and ask for attention,” AWLA said in a Facebook post. “She even enjoyed an enthusiastic playdate with [another adoptable dog].”
