Starting next year, “The Mandalorian” will have a tailored Disneyland ride experience for the first time.

Starting on May 22, 2026 — the same day as the release of the feature film “The Mandalorian & Grogu” — Disneyland Resort’s Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run ride will feature a storyline based on the beloved characters.

The announcement was made by Disney during Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event.

For the first time on the ride located inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, riders will get to choose their destination as they operate the iconic Millennium Falcon. New destinations include gas planet Bespin, the wreckage of the second Death Star around Endor, or the “bustling city-planet,” Coruscant.

The ride allows riders to work in three separate roles: pilot (flies the ship), gunner (controls the ship’s blasters to protect the crew from enemies), or engineer (repair the ship’s damage that comes from enemy fire).

The engineer will have a new duty in addition to repairing the ship — taking care of Grogu. The fun little green guy, who is known by fans affectionately as “Baby Yoda,” will be able to communicate with the engineer, though it’s not yet clear how.

“The intersection of storytelling and innovation has always been central to Lucasfilm and we’re excited to see where this collaboration will take us next,” Star Wars creative executive Dave Filoni said. “Just imagine it: you’ll be able to fly alongside Mando and Grogu on thrilling, and dangerous, missions.”

While the ride’s update launches on the same day as the theatrical release of The Mandalorian & Grogu,” it’ll have a storyline separate from the film starring Pedro Pascal.
