Sigourney Weaver stunned in a quirky patterned jacket as she joined her Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu co-stars in Berlin ahead of its anticipated release.

The motion picture, which is a spinoff of the hit Disney+ series The Mandalorian, follows the exploits of Pedro Pascal‘s interplanetary bounty hunter Din Djarin.

He is joined by Grogu, a fan favourite from the show who became a meme as ‘Baby Yoda,’ being a child of the same species as the iconic Star Wars character.

And ahead of its release this month, Sigourney (Colonel Ward) has joined Pedro and director Jon Favreau on May 4th, also known as Star Wars day due to its May the Force play on words.

The actress appeared elated as she was joined at the Berlin fan celebration at Uber Platz by a Mandalorian character.

Sigourney paired her red and black jacket with a white shirt, black ties and black loose-fitting trousers.

Meanwhile, Pedro stepped out in a mint green shirt layered under a beige waistcoat and matching blazer.

Jon looked classically handsome in a black two-piece suit layered over a black jumper.

In the new trailer for the series, the beloved duo are seen facing off against the crime boss Rotta the Hutt, the son of Jabba the Hutt.

The Bear star Jeremy Allen White has been cast as the voice of Rotta, who has Djarin presented before him on his knees in a scene teased in the trailer.

Djarin’s helmet is then torn off and his real face is exposed onscreen for the first time since a 2020 episode of the second season of The Mandalorian.

Sci-fi icon Sigourney has also joined the franchise as Ward, a veteran of the Rebel Alliance from George Lucas’ original Star Wars trilogy.

The Mandalorian is set after the events of those movies, and in the new film, Djarin is hired by Ward to eliminate various villainous creatures that continue to stalk the galaxy in the wake of the fall of the Empire.

‘We’ll take out every bad guy in your deck of cards,’ Djarin assures Ward as she gives him a hit list in the trailer for The Mandalorian and Grogu.

Does adding big stars like Sigourney Weaver risk overshadowing what made The Mandalorian unique?

‘This isn’t about revenge,’ Ward can be seen insisting to Djarin and Grogu in a different scene. ‘It’s about preventing another war.’

Fans are treated in the trailer to glimpses of the warm rapport between the two title characters, with Grogu serving as Djarin’s apprentice.

Echoing Yoda – his resemblance to whom caused audiences to fall instantly in love with him – Grogu is seen closing his eyes and using the Force to make a droid burst into bits.

The sneak peek is awash in fan service, as in one moment certain to warm Star Wars devotees’ hearts in which Djarin is seen taking his spaceship into lightspeed.

Jon Favreau directed and co-wrote the movie, having served as the creator and director on the show The Mandalorian, which debuted on Disney+ in 2019.

The idea for the new film started life as a fourth season of The Mandalorian, but it was reimagined as a single feature-length motion picture after the Hollywood strikes of 2023 forced the production to be delayed.

The cast includes Steve Blum, known as the voice of Spike Spiegel on Cowboy Bebop, as well as Once Upon a Time actor Jonny Coyle.

Swedish composer Ludwig Goransson, who scored the first two seasons of the series, has returned to provide the soundtrack for the picture.

Fans in the US, the UK, Canada and Japan will be able to catch The Mandalorian and Grogu in IMAX theaters on May 22, with releases earlier that week in other territories
