HISD Superintendent Mike Miles discussed test scores, the future of AI in schools, and more in a live Q&A session on Wednesday.
HOUSTON — Houston ISD Superintendent Mike Miles is laying out his plans for the district, and what that means for your student.
During a live Q&A session Wednesday evening, Miles pointed to recent gains on state tests, saying the district is now above the median in reading and math, with nearly 200 “A” and “B” rated campuses.
Miles also addressed the role of artificial intelligence in the classroom, saying students still need to be able to learn and think on their own, but also be prepared to use AI tools in the future.
The superintendent also touched on school closures, saying that while they’re not ideal, keeping older, under-enrolled buildings open just isn’t financially stable.
