An investigation is underway in New Jersey, where one person was killed and six people were injured in a shooting Saturday at a Chick-fil-A restaurant.

UNION, New Jersey — One person was killed and six others were injured during a shooting Saturday night at a Chick-fil-A in New Jersey.

The Union Police Department responded to a call about the shooting around 9 p.m. Eastern at the restaurant located on Route 22 in Union, according to a news release from the Union County Prosecutor’s Office.

When emergency officials arrived at the scene, they found seven people injured. One of the seven was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other six suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Authorities did not release any identifying information about the six people who were injured or the person who was killed, including ages or whether they were employees at the restaurant.

No arrests have been made as of Sunday afternoon, but early investigation suggests the shooting does not appear to be a random act of violence, and there is “no immediate ongoing threat to the general public,” the release states.

The prosecutor’s office did, however, urge the community to “remain vigilant.”

The investigation is active and ongoing.

Union is located southwest of Newark and directly west of Newark Liberty International Airport.

This story is developing and will be updated as information becomes available.
