Investigators said they believe a Toyota 4Runner hit Christopher Brown and didn’t stop. It happened on FM 529 near Jackrabbit Road in December.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — Nearly four months after 33-year-old Christopher Brown was hit and killed by a vehicle while he was walking along a northwest Harris County road, investigators are hoping the public can help them find the driver who’s responsible.

It happened on Dec. 17, around 5:15 a.m., while Brown was walking down FM 529 near Jackrabbit Road.

Investigators said they believe a westbound Toyota 4Runner hit Brown and didn’t stop. Brown was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The victim in this case is still somebody’s friend, loved one … He was important,” Harris County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Austin Howard said. “We need the community to come together if they have any information about it.”

Now, about three and a half months after Brown’s death, his family is still holding out hope for justice.

“He was a kind person, and he wanted to start his own fashion line,” Dexter Brown, Christopher’s father, said. “All those plans we had together, we can’t do.”

Howard said he thinks someone in the community has seen the vehicle or knows who the driver is.

“It’s important that we keep working for Christopher and his family,” Howard said. “More than likely, someone has information about this crash. One tip can make a difference.”

HCSO Vehicular Crimes Division investigators recently released more information about the SUV they believe is responsible for Brown’s death. They think it’s a 2013 to 2024 Toyota 4Runner that likely has visible damage to the front left side, including a broken headlight and damage to the front bumper and grille. They’re not sure what color the SUV is.

“Please be responsible and help bring us closure,” Dexter Brown said.

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477) or the HCSO Vehicular Crimes Division at 713-274-7400.
