Margot Robbie has channelled her inner Y2K-era Kylie Minogue in a new advertisement for Chanel handbags that went live on Monday.

The Hollywood actress, 35, paid homage to her fellow Australian star, 57, in a clip that re-creates the singer’s iconic Come Into My World music video released in 2002.

Filmmaker Michel Gondry directed the original music clip, which saw multiple versions of Kylie navigating a Parisian street at the same time.

He has now returned to pay homage to the noughties video with a Chanel ad which sees a parade of Margots navigating a soundstage made to look like Paris.

Much like Kylie’s version, duplicates of Margot are seen on screen at one time with the use of post-production trickery.

This time, each version of The Wolf of Wall Street star carries a Chanel 25 handbag in a different colour and size, and the laundromat has been swapped for a ‘librairie’.

Kylie also makes a cameo in the advert, standing in a window wearing pink – echoing her original look in the music video – as Margot waves at her.

‘I remember watching it as a kid and thinking it was so cool and clever – the in-camera trickery he’s so famous for,’ Margot told Vogue of the original video.

She then went on to joke it was her way of portraying Kylie on screen without actually singing and ‘ruining it for everyone’.

It was a nod to a prior interview where she discovered Kylie had endorsed the actress to portray her in a potential biopic of the popstar’s life.

In September 2025, Margot poured cold water on speculation she could one day step into Kylie’s shoes for a big-screen biopic.

The Gold Coast-raised actress was tipped by the pop superstar herself as the perfect choice to portray her, if a film version of her life was ever made.

Kylie had inked a multimillion-dollar deal with Netflix for a tell-all documentary, fuelling whispers the streaming giant might eventually push for a full-length movie about her rise to fame.

But when the rumour was put to Margot during a BBC Radio 2 appearance, the Barbie star looked stunned.

Do YOU think Margot Robbie did a good job of re-creating Kylie Minogue’s music video?

‘She did not?! Why has nobody ever told me this before?!’ Margot exclaimed when informed that Kylie had publicly endorsed her. ‘That is wild information.’

While clearly flattered, Margot quickly ruled herself out.

‘I am beyond honoured. Of course, I could not. I can’t sing like Kylie,’ she admitted, adding that she dislikes it when actors take on musical roles without the vocal chops.

The Oscar-nominated actress went on to reveal her very first meeting with Kylie was far less Hollywood and far more Australian.

According to Margot, the pair bonded over cocktails at LA’s famed Chateau Marmont after Kylie’s team reached out.

‘I thought it was going to be about work or a charity thing,’ Margot recalled.

‘But she just said, “You’re an Aussie, I’m an Aussie, we should hang out.” And then we just got drunk together.’
