Chappell Roan now banned from Brazilian concert after her security was accused of leaving Jude Law’s tween daughter in tears

Chappell Roan has been banned from performing at Todo Mundo no Rio in the wake of allegations she sent her security to threaten Jude Law’s 11-year-old daughter after the child walked by the superstar.

The 28-year-old singer, born Kayleigh Rose Amstutz, was in Sao Paulo over the weekend to perform at Lollapalooza. While there, Law’s daughter Ada recognized the pop star at a hotel and subsequently walked past her breakfast table to get a closer look.

Roan then allegedly sent her security to intimidate the tween – whom the British actor, 53, shares with Catherine Harding – according to the child’s stepdad, soccer star Jorginho Frello, 34.

The story caught the attention of Rio de Janeiro Mayor Eduardo Cavaliere, who has since banned Roan from performing at the city’s upcoming Todo Mundo no Rio concert in a declaration shared on X.

‘I mean that as long as I’m in charge of our city – this young lady @ChappelRoan will never perform at Todo Mundo no Rio! I doubt that Shakira would do that! By the way, @FrelloJorginho your little one is already the guest of honor from the organization in May!’ Cavaliere wrote in a statement translated from Portuguese. Todo Mundo no Rio is set to take place in May, and Cavaliere’s term ends in 2028.

The Daily Mail has reached out to a rep for Roan about the mayor’s action.

Roan hit back against Frello’s narrative, which he’d shared on social media, with a video apology posted to Instagram Stories on Saturday.

She said the security guard who approached Frello’s family was ‘not my personal security.’

The singer clarified: ‘I did not ask the security guard to go up and talk to this mother and child. They did not come up to me. They weren’t doing anything.

‘It’s unfair for security to just assume someone doesn’t have good intentions.’

Since her rise to stardom in 2024, Roan has been outspoken about the pitfalls of fame, publicly rejecting the idea that she should accept unwanted attention.

She has had a sometimes contentious relationship with her fans, with the artist previously calling out behavior that she considered ‘creepy’ and ‘invasive’ in social media posts.

But she said in Saturday’s post, ‘I do not hate people who are fans of my music. I do not hate children. That is crazy. I’m sorry to the mother and child that someone was assuming something, that you would do something. If you felt uncomfortable that makes me really sad. You did not deserve that.’

In August 2024 Roan posted a video to TikTok in which she said, ‘I don’t care that abuse and harassment, stalking, whatever, is a normal thing to do to people who are famous or a little famous.

‘It’s weird how people think that you know a person because you see them online and you listen to the art they make…I’m allowed to say no to creepy behavior, okay?’

She followed that up with a lengthy post to Instagram, saying, ‘I want to be an artist for a very long time. I’ve been in too many nonconsensual physical and social interactions and I just need to lay it out and remind you, women don’t owe you s**t.’

Roan continued: ‘When I’m on stage, when I’m performing, when I’m in drag, when I’m at a work event, when I’m doing press…I am at work. Any other circumstance, I am not in work mode. I am clocked out.’

She added, ‘If you’re still asking, “Well, if you didn’t want this to happen, then why did you choose a career where you knew you wouldn’t be comfortable with the outcome of success?” – understand this: I embrace the success of the project, the love I feel, and the gratitude I have. What I do not accept are creepy people, being touched, and being followed.’

The rising entertainer has earned a reputation for being a complainer, with fans suggesting she change her name to ‘Chappell Moan.’
