Chase Stokes demonstrated how he’s ‘moving forward’ after his second split from Kelsea Ballerini by inking his body with a symbolic new tattoo.
The 33-year-old Outer Banks actor enlisted LA fine-line artist Daniel ‘Winterstone’ Winter to tattoo the phrase ‘they will judge us by our fruit’ below the nape of his neck.
It was inspired by Bible verse Matthew 7:16: ‘Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?’
The New Testament botany scripture is essentially Jesus warning his followers how to identify false prophets – by their bad fruit aka their bad behavior and works.
Winterstone told TMZ on Tuesday that Stokes was ‘feeling good and enlightened about where things are currently’ and he actually got a few tattoos but only felt comfortable publicly showing the one on his back.

In her single 587, Ballerini appeared to reference their ink: ‘I heard you covered up your tattoo / It’s probably time I covered mine too / I guess it isn’t just a break between us / It’s a little more space between us.’
The six-time Grammy nominee also named her six-track EP Mount Pleasant after the same town where Stokes filmed Outer Banks in South Carolina.
Stokes and Ballerini originally met virtually on December 1, 2022 mere weeks after she finalized her divorce from country crooner Morgan Evans following four years of marriage.
On March 4, the Marked Men actor accused Evans of being a ‘pathetic excuse of masculinity’ on Instagram, which prompted the Australian 40-year-old to demonstrate how he can lift a mini-fridge and chop wood with his bulging biceps.
Stokes and Ballerini first split last September and she even temporarily blocked him on Instagram before they decided to rekindle their romance on New Year’s Eve.
‘I feel like outwardly, it looked a lot more dramatic than it was,’ the Patterns singer told ET on February 1.
