EXCLUSIVE: Vietnamese sales company Skyline Media has picked up international rights to family comedy drama Father Of The Groom, directed by Nguyen Ngoc Lam and starring veteran actor Huu Chau.
The film follows a widower in a remote southern Vietnamese village who, upon learning he has a terminal illness, sets out to fulfil a promise to his late wife by arranging a marriage for his son. Naturally the son, who is living in Saigon, has other ideas and the father-son relationship becomes even further strained when they start to discover each other’s secrets.
Huu Chau is an award-winning and much beloved actor in Vietnam, who was recently seen in 2025 hit Face Off 8: Embrace Of Light. Also starring in Father Of The Groom are Tran Kim Hai (Face Off 7: One Wish), playing the son, along with veteran actress Hong Van and rising actress Syni Trang (The Soul Lantern).
Produced by Vietnam’s Galaxy Studio, Father Of The Groom was released theatrically in Vietnam in November 2025, but Skyline will be introducing it to international buyers for the first time in Filmart.

Nguyen Ngoc Lam is a director, producer and actor who has played roles in U.S. productions including Ham Tran’s Journey From The Fall and Spike Lee’s Vietnam-set Da 5 Bloods.
One of Vietnam’s longest established sales agents, Skyline is also selling Oscar Duong’s upcoming cyber crime thriller The Fatal Dealz, starring Lien Binh Phat and Korean actress Jang Hye-jin (Parasite), at Filmart, along with Vietnam-Thai horror thriller The Bride and Huynh Lap’s hit family comedy drama The Ancestral Home.
Skyline founder Hang Trinh is also establishing a $3m investment venture, Triple Green CineCapital, to finance and produce commercially-driven features for the Southeast Asian market, in partnership with Singapore producer Leonard Lai.
