A LEADING UK supermarket is urgently recalling air fryers over fears they could overheat and burst into flames.
Shoppers who bought the kitchen appliances have been told to “stop using the items immediately”.
Sainsbury’s has issued an urgent product recall for the kitchen appliance with customers urged to return the gadget for a full refund.
The high street retailer said there was a potential manufacturing defect that could cause the Tower 4ltr Digital Air Fryer to overheat and pose a risk of fire.
Last year Sainsbury’s recalled two models of Tower air fryers, a 2ltr and 4ltr product.
However, the latest announcement is linked to a different batch of the 4ltr appliance.
The retailer is urging anyone who bought the item, sold between January 2022 to April 2023, to stop using it immediately.
Customers are advised to check if they have an affected product by locating the product number on the base of the air fryer.
The latest fryer to be recalled is the T17067 Tower 4ltr Digital Air Fryer, SKU 143897281.
A Sainsbury’s spokesperson said: “We’ve been requested by Tower to alert you to a product recall impacting a Tower branded air fryer produced between January 2022 to April 2023.
“A small number of units have been identified to have a potential manufacturing default that could cause the air fryer to overheat and pose a fire risk.
“Please stop using this item immediately, and check if you have an affected product by locating the product number on the base of the air fryer.”
Anyone who has purchased the product being recalled can contact any Sainsbury’s store or follow the instructions at this link.
