EXCLUSIVE: UTA has signed Swiss-Italian writer and director Petra Volpe for representation in all areas.
Volpe is well known for writing 2015 family-drama Heidi, whose $38M box office makes it one of the most successful Swiss films ever.
She most recently made her English-language debut with Frank & Louis, starring Kingsley Ben-Adir and Rob Morgan, which she co-wrote and directed. The film premiered at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival where it was well received by critics.
A year prior, her feature Late Shift premiered in the Special Gala section of the 2025 Berlin International Film Festival, went on to perform strongly across German-speaking territories, and was selected as Switzerland’s official submission for the 98th Academy Awards where it was shortlisted in the International Feature category.
Volpe first gained international attention with her debut feature Dreamland, which earned four Swiss Film Award nominations, and broke through with The Divine Order, which premiered at the 2017 Tribeca Festival. The film went on to win the Nora Ephron Prize, the Audience Award, and Best Actress, and became a Swiss box-office success before receiving seven Swiss Film Award nominations.
On the TV side, she created the miniseries Labyrinth of Peace. She was recently awarded with a Zurich Film Festival Golden Eye award.
Volpe continues to be represented by Range Media Partners and Frankfurt Kurnit Klein & Selz.
