THE M1 is closed after a crash between a car and a trailer leaving commuters facing miles of congestion with lanes also closed on the M27.
Traffic has been stopped on the M1 southbound in Leicestershire within Junction 22.
National Highways said that the motorway had been halted temporarily to allow the recovery of a trailer and a car following the collision.
There are currently queues of up to 45 minutes as well as 5 miles of congestion on approach.
Meanwhile, one lane is closed on the M27 westbound between Junction 12 at Portsmouth and Junction 11 at Fareham.
The closure follows an earlier collision involving a lorry with emergency barrier repairs now underway.
There are currently two miles of queues on approach.
Elsewhere, the A419 southbound is closed between the B4040 at Cricklade and the B4019 at Blunsdon.
Wiltshire Police are at the scene following a two-vehicle collision with traffic officers assisting.
Drivers have been warned to expect delays.
