DONALD Trump has today vowed to unseal bombshell United States government files related to alien and extraterrestrial life.
The announcement comes just days after former president Barack Obama made the shocking statement that “aliens are real”.
Capitalising on the “tremendous interest shown”, Trump says he has now directed full transparency into the “extremely interesting and important” matter.
The files, he says, will include anything “related to alien and extraterrestrial life, unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), and unidentified flying objects (UFOs).”
Earlier today, Trump blasted Obama for leaking “classified information” on extraterrestrial life.
“He’s not supposed to be doing that. He made a big mistake,” he told reporters aboard Air Force One.
“He took it out of classified information.”
When quizzed on whether he also believes that aliens exist, Trump said: “I don’t have an opinion on it. I never talk about it.
“A lot of people believe [they do].”
Referring again to Obama’s interview, he added: “I may get him out of trouble by declassifying it.”
Obama was forced to clarify his bombshell claims, which he made during a quickfire “lightning” round of questions in a Saturday interview on Brian Tyler Cohen’s podcast.
“Are aliens real?” Cohen asked.
“They’re real but I haven’t seen them,” Obama replied.
“They’re not being kept in Area 51. There’s no underground facility.
Before he joked: “Unless there’s this enormous conspiracy and they hid it from the president of the United States.”
Obama has since rowed back on the comments, which attracted massive online and press attention.
The former president posted a statement on his official Instagram account on Sunday, writing: “I was trying to stick with the spirit of the speed round, but since it’s gotten attention let me clarify.
“Statistically, the universe is so vast that the odds are good there’s life out there.
“But the distances between solar systems are so great that the chances we’ve been visited by aliens is low, and I saw no evidence during my presidency that extraterrestrials have made contact with us. Really!”
At a later point in the podcast, Cohen asked Obama: “What was the first question you wanted answered when you became president?”
“Where are the aliens?” Obama quipped.
He has previously joked – and speculated – about alien life.
Appearing on The Late Late Show in 2021 with James Corden, Obama said: “When it comes to aliens, there are some things I just can’t tell you on air.
“But what is true – and I’m actually being serious here – is that there’s footage and records of objects in the skies that we don’t know exactly what they are.”
In 2024, Donald Trump told Logan Paul he was not a “believer.”
“Probably I can’t say I am,” Trump said.
“But I have met with people that are serious people that say there’s some really strange things that they see flying around out there.”
A US congressman recently claimed that a massive UFO is being hidden in plain sight in an overseas location.
Rep Eric Burlison said on Monday that the facility is “guarded like it’s some kind of commodity” and has previously claimed that Donald Trump has been “fully briefed” on the existence of aliens.
He added that Trump has also been made aware of alien-human hybrids allegedly living on Earth today.
