Then-PM David Cameron wanted help dealing with rats and mice in the 18th century building.
He is the first cat to take on the prestigious role.
Larry is now currently serving his sixth premier, Sir Keir Starmer.
Over the years he has been seen photobombing US President Donald Trump, Ukranian leader Volodymyr Zelensky and several other political heavyweights.
Larry can also often be seen sprawled out on the pavements of Downing Street or perched on the windsowill beside No10’s front door.
Despite his old age at 19 years old, Larry’s minders say he is still catching rodents.
A source said Larry celebrated with extra treats.
