THE mother of a young British man critically injured in a motorcycle accident in Thailand has made a heartfelt plea for donations to help bring him home.
Tiger Duggan, 23, is currently fighting for his life in a Bangkok hospital after being struck by a vehicle while riding a motorbike on Sunday.
Initially feared dead, Tiger was resuscitated at the scene and rushed to a small hospital on Koh Samui island.
On Friday, he was airlifted to a hospital in Bangkok, where he remains unconscious and on life support.
His mother, Lisa, and aunt Lena are by his side, holding out hope that Tiger will eventually be stable enough to be flown back to the UK.
In the meantime, Lisa is desperately trying to raise funds for the emergency medical transfer.
A group of nurses from Milton Keynes University Hospital, where Lisa works, has set up an online fundraiser to help cover the costs of bringing Tiger home.
The campaign has already raised an incredible £130,000.
In an emotional update from her son’s bedside, Lisa tearfully urged people to donate.
“I am begging you please help us, help us get this boy home, whichever way that may look,” she said.
“Please reach deep into your pockets. Every penny counts.”
“Your support means more than words can express,” she wrote.
She added that Tiger’s father, Kieran, and his younger brother, River, are on their way to join her in Bangkok.
In a video posted to the fundraiser page, she shared how deeply River, who looks up to his older brother, is affected by the tragedy.
“It broke my heart, my two boys,” Lisa said, visibly distressed.
Turning to her son unresponsive in she hospital bed, she added, “Ti we are rooting for you. We really are. Please help.”
Despite Tiger having some travel insurance, the family has encountered significant delays in accessing support.
A family spokesperson shared that, while Tiger’s insurance policy is in place, the process of getting approval is slow and could take weeks – time Tiger simply doesn’t have.
“Unfortunately, he can’t afford to wait,” the spokesperson explained.
“The emergency transfer must happen now to give him the best chance at survival.”
Two years ago, Tiger moved from Milton Keynes to Perth to pursue his “dream job” working with a gold mining company.
The family is also receiving support from Milton Keynes Central Labour MP, Emily Darlington, who said: “I’m devastated to hear about this accident. Tiger is a young man from our community, and we are all praying for his recovery.”
